PLAYER RATINGS FOR MUFC VS LIV

Manchester United just ran out 4-0 winners against arch-rivals Liverpool. Thanks to goals from Sancho,Fred, Tony & Pellistri. One might argue its a pre-season friendly but It is always nice to beat your rivals. It is important not to over analyse a friendly and reach certain conclusions about certain players. It was a great game still.

The Starting XI

This is the scoring system Bench:N/A|Horrendous:0-2|Bad:2-4|Average:4-6|Good:7|Great:8-9|Amazing:10

Erik Ten Hag - 7/10

He got most of the decisions right especially the one to play the fullbacks as supporting players. His decisions in the second half were strange, especially the one to play Amad upfront. He will be pleased to see the players adapting to Ten Hag Ball.

DAVID DE GEA 7/10

He was surprisingly good given how bad he was last season. He made some great saves especially in the first half. He did have some shaky moments and he suprised everyone including himself by coming off his line. He was still good.

LUKE SHAW 6/10

He didn't stand out as he usually does but he did show glimpses of Shawberto Carlos. He didn't have much to do defensively but he was still dragged out of position a couple of times especially when the half was about to end. He was very safe with the ball and that's what earns him a 6.

RAPHAEL VARANE 7/10

He was good both on the ball and off the ball although there was shaky moments. He proved why he is better as a cover defender because there was no ball progression on the left side. Let's hope he stays fit this upcoming season.

VICTOR LINDELOF 6/10

Just like Luke Shaw with the only difference that he took risks. He nearly cost the team a goal but was lucky Curtis Jones scuffed the shot.

DIOGO DALOT 7/10

He was better of the two fullbacks although he had his usual shaky moments. He linked well with Sancho on the right. He was unlucky not to score as his shot hit the post.

SCOTT MCcTOMINAY 7/10

It was a usual Scotty Too Hotty performance. He put in the grit even though on some moments he hid from the ball. He was good on the ball interchanging positions with Fred as an Anchor.

FRED 8/10

Fred Celebrating scoring the second.

The first 8 of the ratings. Fred was gonna get a 7 but got an extra point purely off the goal. He was magnificent even though his wandering left the defense a little exposed.

BRUNO FERNANDES 8/10

STAR★MAN Bruno Fernandes
It was not a vintage Bruno performance but He proved today why he is the glue. He had a hand in 2 of the goals and was our best presser today.

MARCUS RASHFORD 7/10

Rashford played well and was unlucky not to score. He showed great movement for the chance he scuffed. He was pretty effective and held the width well.

JADON SANCHO 9/10 MOTM 🎖

Sancho Celebrating the opening goal.

He was brilliant today. Our most dangerous attacker. His goal was great and was unlucky not to get an assist. His link with Diogo Dalot,Tony & Bruno was great. Im shocked he didn't win official Man Of The Match.

ANTHONY MARTIAL 9/10

Anthony Martial with his MOTM Award.

The Official MOTM winner. He was brilliant, he linked the play well and was simply unstoppable. Great Finish for the third goal. Ronaldo must go so we can see more of this next season.

Subs :

TOM HEATON 6/10

He came on in the 60th minute and was lucky not to concede. If only Darwin Nunez didn't challenge his inner Timo Werner, we would be speaking a different story. He was pretty average

TYRELL MALACIA

New Signing Tyrell Malacia

Nothing particularly stood out from his performance apart from the block in the 47th minute. We must also factor in the teammates he played with and the standard of the opponents. I'm excited to see him with better teammates around him next time.

ALEX TELLES 7/10

The guy who made sure we don't get Top 4 is up here and he was pretty good considering he was playing off position. There was a few miskicks here & there but he was pretty decent on the ball.

ERIC BAILLY 8/10

The star of the second half. He had Darwin Nunez deep in his pocket. He carried well out of defense for Pellistri's goal .It's a shame injuries ruined his time here but it will be good for his career that he's leaving.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA 6/10

Just like Malacia,Nothing stood out.He had pretty much nothing to do and when he overlapped, there was no one to find him. He should hope for improvement

ZIDANE & CHARLIE SAVAGE 8/10

They were both pretty great. They worked well together & broke Liverpool's press many times. They did more than hold their own against a quality opponent.

DONNY VAN DE BEEK 4/10

He was the worst player on the pitch today. He was pretty ineffective in Bruno's position. He looked slightly better when he played upfront.Overall a very average performance.

ANTHONY ELANGA 5/10

Considering he is Pellistri & Amad's senior, they shouldn't be outshining him. Just like Donny, he was pretty ineffective. Other than this , there's nothing much to say. Let's hope he plays better when the season starts.

FACUNDO PELLISTRI 7/10

Facundo Pellistri

The goalscorer in the second half. Great finish for the goal and he showed why he should be Sancho's backup.Nothing much to say apart from the fact he put in the defensive work.

AMAD DIALLO 6/10

He looked lost for most parts and that's due to the fact he was playing off position. He combined really well with Pellistri for the goal and that's is as good as it get's. Let's hope He gets a good loan move.

WHAT WOULD CONSTITUTE A GOOD SEASON FOR BARCELONA?

A poor start to the season led to the sacking of Ronald Koeman & the sacking proved to be crucial. Barca legend Xavi Hernandez was appointed & The Catalan Giants took some huge strides. Xavi successfully launched his style of play & improved most of the existing players which in turn gave better results. Barca faltered at the final games of the season but It was a great 6 months for Barca. Xavi's work hasn't gone unnoticed as a plethora of signings arrived in Catalunya. ANALYZING BARCA'S IN'S Barca have bought a world-class goalscorer in Robert Lewandowski who will help Barca convert more of their chances. There might be question marks on whether Lewandowski is the right signing but I fully expect him to carry on his good form.  Robert Lewandowski Barca also bought a near world class winger who will not only compete with Dembele but make sure they do not lose quality when Xavi rotates. Raphina might not match Dembele's assist tally but he is definitely ou...

PREVIEW OF THE DERBIES

The International Break Has Officially Ended. Club Football had returned. There is a lot to unpack from the 2 biggest fixtures this upcoming weekend. NORTH LONDON DERBY Combined XI This will be the 192nd league meeting between the two giants. Spurs are looking to extend their unbeaten run and Arsenal are looking to end it. Giving a recipe for a great match. Arterta's Baby Armies have been fantastic this season and the signings have settled in quickly with Gabby Jesus providing a great outlet to play through. Zinchenko removes most of the defensive burden from Granit Xhaka making the team better at defending transitions.(He should start when fit) Fabio Viera had a great display against Brentford but I don't expect him to start.  Gabby Jesus celebrates against Brentford. Arsenal Probable Starting XI PLAYER TO WATCH : GABRIEL MARTINELLI Martinelli celebrates after scoring against A.F.C Bournemouth. The best LW in the league this season. He has been on great form and this game mi...

Thoughts On The Appointment Of Jose Riviero

Orlando Pirates have announced José Riverio as a new head coach. One might have expected Benni McCarthy or Mandla Ncikazi to get the coveted position and to the disappointment of others neither of them were appointed.José is a great coach and he should be given time like the others before him. Since this is an appointment that caught everyone & everything by suprise . I have decided to examine the task at hand and give my thoughts on how I see him getting on. Benni McCarthy(top) and Mandla Ncikazi(bottom) were being touted as front-runners for the hot seat. THE SITUATION He arrives when Pirates are at a weird situation and people seem to underestimate how huge the task at hand. Having reached the finals of the CAF Confederations Cup and losing on penalties to RSC Berkane but performing poor domestically finishing 6th in the league and not qualifying for any continental football.I will explain later on how this could be a blessing in disguise.Pirates find themselves in a precarious s...
